ATLANTA BALLET ADULT CLASSES
Adult Ballet for beginners?
I am a former low level gymnast and I took jazz and “gymnastics ballet” as well. I am now 24 and would love to learn ballet, just for fun and exercise. Are there any “true” Adult begginer classes, maybe in Atlanta, that wouldn’t be a bunch of advanced students just pretending to be inexperienced. I would love to try, but I am afraid of being humiliated in front of a bunch of super skinny ballerinas.
Most “good” big ballet schools will have all levels of adult ballet. You might try the school that feeds the Atlanta Ballet (I think it’s called the Centre for Dance Education). Most schools will let you try a class for free before signing up. Ask them when a new class will be starting so that you can be there for the first class and people won’t be ahead of you.
Another good option is look into community colleges. A lot of times they have beginner classes for college age people, but there are older people from the community who take the classes too. Look at various colleges, because some will be more dance-oriented and have a lot of levels (which makes it more likely that your beginner class will truly be for beginners). The other benefit to this is that they are super cheap, too! Good luck and have fun!
