What to wear to my new dance school?
I used to take ballet, jazz and musical theatre at a super fancy dance school with a bunch of rich kids where everyone wore professional leotards(the colour didn’t really matter) with leggings and tights of basically any colour from american apparel with spankies and ballet, jazz, and character shoes. We were also allowed to wear tight tank tops, and jazz pants/yoga pants and stud earrings.
This year we had some financial trouble so I have to take classes at a community center. I don’t know if they will dress differently at this kind of place. Will the other girls like the chanel earrings and neon tights that I’ve been wearing for 10 years?

I take classes at both a studio and a rec center. At the studio, we’re required to wear black leotards and pink tights for ballet, and any color leotard and tights for jazz although most just stick with black leotards and pink/white/tan tights. For ballet we can wear a skirt and for jazz we’re allowed to wear shorts.
At the rec center, we can wear pretty much whatever (some girls even wear jeans to ballet :O). I love neon tights and although I’ll be the only one in the class wearing them, I get tons of compliments.
Obviously every place is different though so like others have suggested, I would check to see if there’s a dress code. If not, wear a plain leotard, neutral tights, and short shorts to your first class and see how the other girls dress, then go from there.
