BALLET ARM POSITIONS
Ballroom dancing?

Hi, I’m 14 years old and want to start ballroom dancing (there’s another question for you — is it too late to start?), and I want to know if there’s stuff that every ballroom dancer knows. For example, in ballet, everyone knows the 6 positions of the feet and 5 positions of the arms. Everyone knows what a tondu is. What does every ballroom dancer know? Thanks! =]

14 is definately not too old to start ballroom dancing.
I do ballroom and latin american dancing and have done for 10 yrs (I’m 14 too!) and there’s still lots of time to start.
Through these 10 yrs I have learnt the correct footwork, and technique, different arm postitions, how to count the beats and bars in a piece of music and identify which dance goes with each piece of music.
If you want to know where you can start dancing, the yellow pages are good, but also dance websites:
www.supadance.com
www.dancesport-international.com
eada.org.uk
Hope that helps! -xox-
