Are managers supposed to make remarks about how you’re clothed?
I’ve got quite a bit of a battleaxe of a manager at the moment. I am dressed in black leggings under a black gathered skirt – all the girls wear them nowadays with ballet pumps. She looked at me and said I look like a school girl. Why do people have to make such remarks?

To the exact question, yes managers are allowed to make remarks to how you are clothed, especially if you have a dress code or uniform. In some cases you may be able to wear what you wish, but in some cases your manager may think that the form your are wearing is inappropriate or not to the substantial requirements to the store. Yes you manager may be a cock but you have to live with it and just move on I’m afraid. Now to the comment ’schoolgirl’ you have to watch out how he is implying that comment and what is ment by it, yes i believe the comment was not of professional context.
