BALLET POINTE SHOES DANCEWEAR
Summer Dance Intensive?
I’m going to a dance intensive this summer, for 2 weeks. Thsi is my first time going, and I”m 13 years old :] Although a packing list was recently mailed to my home, I am still slightly unsure of what to bring (as in the number of things) and of the other “accesory” things I should bring that are not mentioned. For example, on the list it says “Dancewear – bring jazz shoes, pointe shoes, and ballet slippers, modern is done barefoot. Wear Black Leotards and Pink tights during Ballet and Black tights in all other subjects. Warmups are permitted in the beginning of class.”
How many tights should I bring? Leotards? Number of Pointe shoes?
What is a warmup? Is it just like sweats?
What is a good list of first aid I should bring, again the list is not very descriptive?
What else do you suggest?
How can I get the most out of my intensive?
If you can bring a weeks worth of leotards & tights that would be best. You aren’t going to want to wash then out all the time. 2 pairs of pointe shoes and alternate them each day so they can dry out. If you have an extra pair of ballet slippers, that is good too. (I always used to lose a pair when I was younger.) Make sure you bring a stitch kit for repairs for your point shoes and ballet slipper elastics. Warm ups aren’t necessary, especially in the summer, but if you want, they are not quite sweats. The fit a bit tighter and can be purchased at any dance store on or off line. Make sure along with a regular first aid kit you bring plenty of tape and band-aids. BFI powder is not a bad idea for blisters. Bring a foot roller if you have one and a theraband too.
Have fun! I will add later if I think of anything else. Oh yes, bring a small pad and pencil to write down corrections in after class while it is fresh in your mind.
