BALLET SUMMER INTENSIVES LIST
how to get high arches for ballet?
i’ve been en pointe for probably 4 years, i am 16, and i still have low arches. i am strong with everything else in ballet but when it comes to pointe i always struggled. i have flat feet, so how can i get higher arches?
how can i get high arches and get over my box easier? and how long would it take?
also what pointe shoes do you reccommend if you had this issue.
(my ballet studio doesn’t allow us to wear grishko, russian pointes, sansha…anything russian i think)
please list excercises you used that worked/you heard worked. i am going to a summer intensive and i really want to improve my pointe before then. i have a while before i leave.
well technically speaking, you cannot achieve higher arches in your feet. you can make it seem like theyre good, but you cant obtain higher arches. your bone structure in your foot is just not made for an arch, you cant change that.
personally i would recomend any pointe shoe you think is comfortable, but one with a soft shank so that its easier for you to go over your boxes on pointe. this should help make an arch or curve to your foot appear, after theyre broken in and all of course
to make the arch seem “higher” you can always bend your pointe shoe just a bit, and remember if you do this to bend it both ways, in the direction of the arch and not otherwise you will hurt your shoe. and dont ever put it in a door jam or something. they dont work and theyre bad for your shoes.
well just simple releves can help you achieve so much . stronger ankle muscles which will help you stay up on pointe longer which helps with your center floor
good luck and have fun!
