hate dresses?
the topic of weddings came up in our house in a conversation and our mom is upset because we said we will not wear a dress to our wedding because we HATE dresses. like with a passion! she asked why and we told her because we were forced to wear them every day of our lives and hated it even then.
see, we were raised in a pentecostal church against our will for ten years and fought about wearing dresses everyday and had to have long hair.. so now we insist on jeans and short hair. we were made to look always polished and no wrinkles.. and perfect in general. for ten years all we could wear was tights, dress shoes, slips, nice dresses and bows. we hated it!
what’s so bad about hating dressing up? if given our choice, we would stay in jeans and tennies. if we must dress up, it’s loose slacks, a nice blouse and ballet flats.
is it common for kids who were forced to wear dresses when younger to refuse them later in life?
what is really so bad about not dressing up?
My mom made me wear them up until I was about 4 years old…not for religious reasons, just because and I totally hated it because they made me feel like a sissy girl and I was more of a tom boy then. And to this day I still hate dresses because of those first four years…I have worn a dress three times since then…prom, graduation, and my wedding. I will NEVER wear a dress again. The only reason I wore a dresss to my wedding is because it was at the beach and I got to wear something short and sexy.
It’s completely normal how you are. No one should EVER force their children to wear something they don’t won’t to!
