DISCOUNTED NYC BALLET TICKETS
How can I get discounted tickets to see the NYC ballet?
I’m taking my 10 yr. old daughter to New York City this weekend to audition for the ABT summer dance intensive. I’d love to take her to see the NYC Ballet perform on Sat. night, but between airfare and hotel, the trip is already getting expensive. Can anyone recommend how I can acquire some discounted tickets to the performance?
Schools frequently get discounted passes to buy tickets to the ballet and also some broadway shows. (They used to call these passes “twofers”.)
Many school secretaries don’t know what to do with them, so they just stuff them somewhere. Try going down to the office at your daughter’s school and ask if they have any passes to the theater. (You could try the word “twofer” if they still don’t know what you mean. But they might not know what these things they get in the mail are.) Ask to look at all the ones they’ve gotten. See if any are for the Ballet. I think I’ve seen them for the ballet at this time of year.
If the school really doesn’t know what you are talking about or just can’t find them, you might try calling the Theater Development fund and ask if they have any twofers for the ballet.
Another place to check is the public library. They also get these twofers sometimes.
