What to expect, my first Jazz Class?

Okay, so I’ve been taking ballet for 3 years, and my friends have been trying to convince me to take a drop in jazz class so I think I’m going to next week, but their class is an intermediate class, so are there any terms I’ll need to know? Do they take the barre at the start of class or go straight to the floor? If not how do they warm up? and lastly, what do they do for combinations?

jazz is so much fun. i took ballet for 7 years before i started and when I tried jazz I didn’t wanna go back. you usually do some sort of combination to start off the class. then you stretch on the floor. the main difference between jazz and ballet is that in ballet your foot has to be consistently turned out and in jazz they are mostly parrelle. even with your turns your knee is straight foward instead of out to the side. as far as terms go you should be fine, you take ballet so your used to alot of french words. Jazz uses most of the same terms but some english ones too. for combinations it will be turns, leaps and some other funky moves. good luck =)
