i have a bet going with a guy i’m seeing i wanted to know what is the most prestigious ballet school you can go to in the USA that is !

he said Juilliard
But there is that school in NYC
which one of us is right — also i need proof like a website or something something like the top ten ballet schools
You’re mixing apples and oranges. Juilliard is a performing arts college that includes a Dance Division where you can earn a BFA in dance. While they offer excellent ballet classes, you can’t major in ballet and I don’t believe they ever perform en pointe. They are mostly known as a top-notch contemporary dance program.
The Joffrey Ballet School is a pre-professional training center for ballet. They have tried to partner with a couple of universities so that students can train there plus get a degree, but those arrangements keep falling through. They offer excellent training in ballet, but so do many other ballet company-sponsored schools. And as long as you’re a very good dancer, the program is not that hard to get accepted to. They are mostly known for running an excellent Trainee program for older pre-professional students (17-22 years old).
I would have to agree with monket and Kathleen that if you’re talking about the best ballet school in the nation, the consensus would be SAB – the School of American Ballet.
All three programs are in NYC. Your boyfriend said Juilliard just because everyone says Juilliard in relation to dance or music. It’s tough to get into because they only accept 12 guys and 12 girls a year. But that’s a college, while the Joffrey Trainee program is all ballet. I think the bet is a draw.
