Bat Mitzvah questions. (What to bring, What to wear, ect.)?
Ok, well, I’m going to a Bat Mitzvah for a friend of mine in August, and this is my first Bat Mitzvah. Do you have to bring a gift? And if yes, what kind of thing would be good? And What should you wear, I was thinking of just a blouse, a shortish skirt and long grey leggings and Ballet flats. Do you think this would be okay? And also, what do you do after it? And lastly, How long is the ceremony?

Yes a gift is customary. It could be a check in an envelope. It could be a gift certificate. Is there a special book she might like?
You should think about dressing a little dressy. Blouse and skirt are OK, but I don’t know about the leggings and flats.
The ceremony is between 1 and 3 hours, depending on the custom of the individual synagogue. THIS is a question you can ask the receptionist at the synagogue.
There is some sort of celebration afterward – at least a meal, maybe a party.
